What is fat transfer and why is it special?

Fat grafting is a technique that uses your own body fat — suctioned from an area you don't want it (abdomen, thighs, flanks), processed, and injected into an area that needs volume or rejuvenation, such as the face, hands or buttocks.

The essential advantage: no synthetic materials, no foreign substances — your body cannot reject its own fat. The result is more natural than synthetic fillers, and part of the transferred fat settles permanently.

Areas of fat transfer

🌸

Facial rejuvenation (Facial Fat Grafting)

Filling hollow cheeks, under-eye hollows, nasolabial folds, and temples. Gives a fuller, more youthful face with a natural material that also nourishes the skin with its stem cells.

🤲

Hand rejuvenation

The hands are among the first areas of the body to reveal age, with veins and bones becoming prominent. Fat injection restores natural volume and conceals prominent veins.

💎

Buttock augmentation (Natural BBL)

Fat transfer to the buttocks — a natural alternative to silicone implants. Fat is suctioned from areas of excess and injected into the buttocks for volume and lift. Read more about buttock lift.

🌿

Natural breast augmentation

For women who want a limited increase in breast size (about one cup) without silicone. Suitable for those who have enough fat to harvest and do not want an artificial implant.

Who benefits most?

✅ Fat transfer is ideal for you if:

  • You want a 100% natural result with no synthetic materials
  • You have fat areas you want reduced (abdomen, thighs) — you benefit twice
  • Your face has begun losing fullness and volume with age
  • You are wary of synthetic fillers and want a natural alternative

⚠️ Fillers may be more suitable if:

  • Your weight is very low and there is not enough fat to harvest
  • You want a large increase in breast size — over two cups — silicone is more reliable
  • Heavy smoking reduces the survival rate of transferred fat

Recovery timeline

Day 1-3
Swelling in both areas

The donor area swells like a bruise, and the injected area looks larger than it will settle at — part of the fat is absorbed, which is normal.

Week 1
Avoid pressure on the injected area

No direct sitting if the buttocks were treated — use a special cushion. No sleeping face-down if the face was treated.

Week 2-3
Back to normal life

Swelling subsides noticeably. The new shape can be assessed in a preliminary way.

Month 3-6
The remaining fat settles

60-70% of the injected fat settles permanently. This is the permanent shape. Some cases need a second session to increase volume.

Frequently asked questions

Is the result of fat transfer permanent?
The fat that survives (60-70%) settles permanently — but it is affected by weight changes like any fat cell in your body. If you lose weight after the procedure, the volume of the injected fat will decrease too.
Why does the doctor suggest a larger volume than I want?
Because part of the injected fat is absorbed in the first 3 months. The doctor injects slightly more than the final target to compensate for this natural absorption.
Can fat transfer be combined with fillers?
Yes — sometimes they complement each other. Fat transfer for the large areas that need volume, and hyaluronic fillers for fine details such as the lips. The doctor decides the best combination.
Is facial rejuvenation with fat better than fillers?
Each has advantages: fat transfer is more natural, partly permanent and nourishes the skin, while fillers are easier, faster and more adjustable. For comprehensive, deep rejuvenation, fat transfer is better. For fine details, fillers are more precise.
