How the FUE technique works
FUE stands for Follicular Unit Extraction. The procedure runs in three stages:
- Extraction: the doctor uses a fine rotary punch 0.8-1.0 mm in diameter to extract the follicles one by one from the donor area (usually the back of the head).
- Temporary storage: the extracted follicles are kept in a medical solution to preserve their vitality.
- Channel opening and implantation: the doctor opens fine channels in the recipient area at a calculated angle and density, then implants the follicles into them.
How the DHI technique works
DHI stands for Direct Hair Implantation. It uses the special Choi pen to combine the second and third steps:
- Extraction: the same mechanism as FUE — a rotary punch to extract the follicles.
- Direct implantation: the follicle is placed directly into the Choi pen and then implanted into the skin without the need to open channels beforehand — one step instead of two.
